Why We Reviewed This Product

Gone Green has been in the health and wellness space for seventeen years. We do not review products we do not carry, and we do not carry products we have not evaluated against our standards. When we added Holy Lamb Organics to our store, we tested their products the way our customers would: in the context of health recovery, chemical sensitivity, and the need for genuinely clean materials.

This review covers the Holy Lamb Organics wool comforter specifically, because the comforter is the second-highest-contact bedding item after the pillow and one of the most impactful upgrades for mold illness survivors who are still using synthetic comforters or conventional down.

Construction and Materials

The comforter is filled with Premium Eco-Wool sourced from small American sheep farms. The wool is never treated with pesticides, dyes, or chemical processing agents. The shell is GOTS-certified organic cotton sateen, which is smooth, breathable, and pleasant against the skin. The comforter is hand-tufted, not sewn through (tufting prevents the wool from shifting without creating stitch holes that reduce loft). No adhesives are used in construction.

The organic cotton sateen has a subtle sheen and a softer hand feel than percale. It does not have the crisp, hotel-sheet feel that some buyers prefer. If you want a crispier feel, you can use it inside a duvet cover, but most users find the sateen comfortable on its own.

Performance for Chemical Sensitivity

Out of the packaging, the comforter has a faint, clean wool scent. Not chemical. Not perfumed. Just wool. For context, we have had customers who react to the off-gassing of memory foam from across the room report zero issues with this comforter.

The wool fill provides natural temperature regulation that synthetic alternatives cannot match. It breathes. It wicks moisture. It does not trap heat the way polyester fill does. CIRS patients who deal with night sweats and temperature dysregulation during recovery consistently report better sleep temperature stability with wool comforters.

Weight and Warmth

Holy Lamb offers the comforter in multiple weights. The lighter option is suitable for warm climates or those who sleep hot. The standard weight works for most environments. The heavier option is designed for cold climates.

Wool comforters feel different from down or synthetic. They have a gentle weight without the puffiness of down. The weight is evenly distributed and has a grounding quality that some users describe as similar to a lighter weighted blanket. This can be a benefit for anxiety-prone CIRS patients, though it is not marketed as a weighted blanket.

Who This Is For and Who Should Skip It

This comforter is ideal for: mold illness survivors replacing synthetic bedding, MCS patients who need verified chemical-free materials, anyone who sleeps hot and wants natural temperature regulation, buyers who want a premium, long-lasting comforter that supports their health rather than undermining it.

You might skip it if: you strongly prefer the loft and feel of down (wool feels different and will not replicate that experience), you need machine-washable bedding (spot clean only; professional cleaning recommended for deep cleaning), or you have a confirmed lanolin allergy.

Our Verdict

The Holy Lamb organic wool comforter is the best non-toxic comforter we have found for chemically sensitive buyers. The materials are impeccable, the construction is thoughtful, and the performance for temperature regulation and moisture management is superior to any synthetic alternative. It is a meaningful investment in your recovery environment and one of the upgrades our customers report being most satisfied with.
